You do not need to begin estate planning with an office visit. Mand Daley Law offers an initial phone consultation, planning and document review by phone or Zoom, and mobile signing available in Mississauga, arranged in advance. The signing location can change; the need for proper instructions, legal advice and valid execution does not.

For a household balancing work, children, caregiving or mobility needs, it helps to separate two questions: how the legal decisions will be made, and where the final documents will be signed.

What does a mobile wills service actually mean?

Mobile service concerns the agreed location of the signing appointment. It does not mean a lawyer arrives with a generic document and asks you to sign before your circumstances have been considered.

The planning work still comes first. You identify the people and responsibilities that matter, discuss your instructions with the lawyer, and review the proposed documents. The signing is then coordinated for the particular matter.

Mand Daley Law serves Mississauga and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Families in Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Vaughan, Toronto and Hamilton can discuss their location and proposed signing arrangements during the initial conversation. Mobile signing outside Mississauga may be available by arrangement. Any applicable fee is confirmed in advance. An address in the service area does not guarantee a particular appointment.

How the process fits around a busy household

Start with a short phone conversation. Explain whether you need a Will, Powers of Attorney, a coordinated plan for a couple, or advice about existing documents. Mention any practical deadline or accessibility need at the outset.

Gather the relevant information. A broad picture of your family, ownership of major assets, existing documents and preferred decision-makers helps the lawyer identify the appropriate work. You do not need to resolve every legal question before making contact.

Review the plan before signing. Use the review meeting to ask about appointments, alternate choices and any wording you do not understand. Tell the lawyer about changed instructions before the signing visit rather than assuming a last-minute handwritten alteration is harmless.

Agree on the signing arrangements. Confirm the location, who will attend, the required identification, witness arrangements and any additional attendance charge before the appointment.

Complete the handover. Ask where originals will be kept, which copies will be provided and how the people named in your documents can locate them when needed.

A home-signing readiness check

This checklist is a preparation aid, not a statement that every appointment has the same requirements.

  • Private instructions: Can each person speak with the lawyer freely, without another person supplying answers or applying pressure?
  • A suitable setting: Is there a quiet space, a usable writing surface and enough time to review the final documents without being rushed?
  • Access and communication: Have stairs, parking, building access, hearing or language needs been discussed? Do not assume a family member should automatically act as an interpreter.
  • Final documents: Has the firm confirmed which version will be signed? Keep older drafts separate.
  • People and identification: Has the lawyer confirmed attendance, identification and witness arrangements? Do not recruit witnesses based only on convenience.
  • Originals and copies: Does everyone understand what happens to the completed documents after the meeting?

Ontario’s official Powers of Attorney questions and answers explains that witness eligibility matters. For example, a spouse or child cannot witness the grantor’s POA. Let the firm confirm suitable witnesses rather than treating any two adults in the house as interchangeable.

Is a Zoom review the same as signing electronically?

No. A discussion over Zoom is a meeting, not proof that a Will or POA has been validly executed. The lawyer must separately explain and arrange the signing process that applies to your documents.

Ontario’s Succession Law Reform Act and Substitute Decisions Act contain execution requirements. Do not add an electronic signature, print and sign an earlier draft, or ask relatives to witness a document outside the agreed process without first obtaining instructions from the lawyer.

What is included in the Family Protection Plan?

For suitable straightforward Ontario couples, Mand Daley Law’s Family Protection Plan is $1,500 + HST. The six legal planning documents are 2 Wills, 2 Continuing Powers of Attorney for Property and 2 Powers of Attorney for Personal Care. The full service includes:

  • two coordinated mirror Wills;
  • two Continuing Powers of Attorney for Property;
  • two Powers of Attorney for Personal Care;
  • two Affidavits of Execution;
  • lawyer consultation and individualized drafting;
  • a secure questionnaire;
  • phone or Zoom review;
  • coordinated signing, with two witnesses provided by Mand Daley Law for the scheduled appointment;
  • mobile signing available in Mississauga;
  • a Will Guide; and
  • a Power of Attorney Guide.

Additional or advanced trust planning, dual or multiple Wills, business planning, complex family structures, significant foreign assets and other complex work are outside the base package. Jaspreet Daley assesses the circumstances and separately scopes and quotes any additional work before proceeding. Commissioner/notary services are available where required or useful for the matter; notarization is not required to make an Ontario Will valid.

A practical example

Hypothetical, not a client story: A couple in Burlington can attend a phone consultation during the working week but finds a joint office visit difficult because of childcare. They discuss the plan, review the drafts remotely and ask about an arranged signing at home. The useful accommodation is moving the agreed signing location, not skipping the planning or legal checks.
